It is a dark moody hue somewhere between blue and purple. “It has a sense of mystery and escapism, and feeds into themes of transition – making it perfect for a period of immense change ... and brings a sense of reassurance which will be key in 2025 ... NEW CLASSICS & SEASONLESS
PANTONE also released a “new classics” colourway (left) and a collection of seasonless shades (right) which are described as “classic and luxurious neutrals that bring comfort and ease.”

Resene
ECO-AWARENESS
Increasing awareness of environmental issues has inspired the Eco-Awareness collection with its natural earthy tones, and clean seaside hues. These colourways have been popular in 2024 and will continue through 2025, especially with the use of natural textures.

DRAMATIC DARKS
Resene have also stated deep dramatic dark colours are poised to make a major comeback. Neutral Blacks have already been very popular, but will be joined by more chromatic options next year. Ditch the gloss and think matt or satin.

INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION & NOSTALGIC INFLUENCES
An exciting growing trend of individual expression with unique & bold colourways being used side by side, will become even more popular in 2025. Alongside this will be a continued revival of nostalic influences from the 70’s through to 00’s.

Natural Colour Systems (NCS)
GAIA
“A tribute to nature and water focusing on blue and green tones. The impact of climate change resulting in a drier, warmer world pushes us towards colours that remind us of our most important resource; water. This drives a desire for these colours’ calming effect and natural presence in our surroundings and daily lives.”

INNER
“Today’s divisive, sceptical, and harsh environment makes us turn inward, trusting our instincts and senses. This results in colour choices that evoke emotions of comfort, warmth, and joy. We embrace mid-tones – warm, earthy and human hues that exhibit subtle yet enduring strength.”

ON & OFF
“We live in a world of utmost contrasts and want to seek refuge in all extremes. Light and dark hues are combined by two chromatic colours that symbolise unity. We strive to express a feeling of connection and hope by bridging our opposites.”

ETHEREAL
“Light, fluid colours reflect a liquid state of mind, blurring the line between the digital and physical worlds. We seamlessly blend light and airy aesthetics with technology to create immersive experiences in the multiverse.”

Dulux
EMERGE
“The muted Emerge palette features uplifting almost-pastel shades with its greyed-off purple blues to be a new colour direction in 2025. The Emerge palette has a feel-good energy filled with soft greens, mauves and a deep red to bring joy without overwhelm.”

STILL
The Still palette is all about creating calm and comfort, serenity and enrichment. It’s about a more intentional and sustainable way of living, with earthy natural hues and a relaxed comfortable environment. Pair this palette with clean lines and authentic tone of voice for maximum effect.

RECOLLECT
“A sense of nostalgia, reflection and sophistication with yellow-based greens and deep olives ... paired with purple, rich burgundies and wine colours for extra opulence and quality assurance.” Nostalgic hues alludes to the need for affordability in the coming year as we are in recovery.
